Think of this as like a sushi dive bar. It's a bit unglamorous but has phenomenal food for its price point. The sushi is always great, their hotpot is a huge bowl of deliciousness and the servers are all so friendly. I've been here so many times and every time it hits the spot!! Highly recommend if you're looking for some classic sush

I love visiting this place. Initially, I lived in Tempe and would look forward to the Izakaya Den every 3 weeks or so. The people here always provide consistently lovely service. All-knowing staff with great options. I usually get Unagi dishes and their bulgogi dishes. I also love the vegetable tempura, the coating is really well done. I've noticed some tempura mixes can be super greasy and these feel light and airy. Love love loooooove their sweet potato tempura. Drinking here is also great when I did drink, my friends and I would do sake bombs and the waiters would just bring us more napkins and smile at us. We were really nice though and didn't get rowdy or make too big of a mess. The inside and the outside are both decorated so well. I think it's an inviting and comfortable setting. Good sized seating. Sometimes there is a wait. The wait can be long. I do think it's worth it every time. Reasonably priced sushi at a great quality. Every time I visit Arizona, I always stop here. It's so worth it.

I still love Zu frequently dine there or get takeout. Their salmon sushi and sashimi is INCREDIBLE. The reason for the 4 star is because I have felt their quality of tuna has gone down a bit. The past few times I got it, it was super fishy. I've had tuna from other sushi spots around here and did not get a fishy flavor so it's pretty specific to them. Also, I ordered a house salad...granted it's like $3 but usually it's like spring mix and carrots maybe a little cherry tomato...no this is AWFUL! It's just shredded iceberg and WHOLE sliced tomatoes (see picture). I can't believe they have the audacity to sell this item. I've had many sushi house salads and it's safe to say this is the worst one I've ever had. The dressing was much more of a slightly ginger vinagarerte but overall I'm not eating these burger toppings in a takeout container. Anyways, stick to their salmon sushi...it's FIRE! They also do good happy hour but not as good as Sushiholic lol

Great place for happy hour food and drinks. HH last till 7pm! They have 2 doors, the restaurant side and a separate bar side. We looked inside both and picked the restaurant side. Nice booth, great lighting and music playlist was awesome. Nice chill vibe. Our server was amazing, she had such a calm soothing voice and aura. The hostess was very sweet and helped us after we said we were going to the bar and changed our minds. Food was yummy and super fast! It comes out as it's prepared, which we really like. The guys who run the food were working so well with the servers. It's rare to dine in a place where you can actually feel the good vibes. They must all get along in real life outside work because they were busy but all calm and on top of everything! Picking up the dishes as soon as we were done, refilling water, checking in a perfect amount with us. This was the first place in YEARS that was so happy to redeem the free item when checking in with yelp. Our server seemed excited she got to redeem our free edamame. We really appreciated that. Some places act like they don't know what it is, or have never seen it, or have to ask the manager and forget to take it off the bill.... Not here. They were so friendly. We will definitely be back and tell people about this place.
